Saint Genevieve is one of five Saints painted for a private commission.
This artwork depicts St Genevieve with the wheat she bravely brought into Paris to save the city from starvation during a siege, and a candle to represent the faith and hope she kindled within the Parisians to inspire them to pray, rather than flee, when the army of Attila the Hun turned toward the city in 451.
God answered their prayers by miraculously prompting Attila to turn back, rather than attack.
