This image is an excerpt from a sacred art mural for Marin Catholic High School in Marin, CA. The original mural expresses the evangelical spirit and values of the school - Duc in Altum, from the Latin Vulgate translation of Luke 5:4: "put out into the deep". This phrase is an exhortation to fearlessly pursue missionary discipleship in Christ.

The original artwork is 15 x 18' and is painted in acrylic on canvas. It features Christ in his eternal self-offering to the Father, with angels gathering the Precious Blood. At the foot of the cross are our greatest models of Christian discipleship, Mary Theotokos and Joseph. This excerpt of Mary, standing at the foot of the cross, is portrayed as Theotokos, or Mother of God. Her gown is white, symbolizing purity, while her outer garment of dark blue signified motherhood in her culture of the time.

Purchase individually or with her companion piece, Joseph Most Chaste.
