This original work was commissioned by Fr. Robert Bolding, President Rector of St. Mary’s Catholic High School in Phoenix, AZ on the school’s centenary. At 20 feet wide by 25 feet high, this free-hanging mural is used for all school masses in the gymnasium and carefully rolled and stored between uses.
This mural features Christ crucified, but not naturalistically depicting the historical moment of Calvary, but rather a stylized representation of the eternal perfect sacrifice of Christ to the Father in which worshipers take part during the celebration of Mass. The patroness of of the school, The Blessed Virgin Mary, is depicted at the foot of the cross as the Mediatrix of All Grace.
