The Seraphim are from a large-scale mural, The Sacred Heart of Jesus, commissioned by Fr. Paul Sullivan for Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Phoenix, Arizona. The original work, at approximately 15 feet high by 30 feet wide, depicts Christ the King and True High Priest and features the Sacred Heart. The two Seraphim face the tabernacle on the left and right.
Surrounded by the Blessed Seraphim and flanked by the Archangels, Michael and Gabriel, the figure of Christ evokes the gravity of Christ as King of the Universe, yet the tenderness of He who offered the sacrifice of his life on the cross as High Priest for the salvation of the world and each person.
