St. Clare of Assisi

Saint Clare of Assisi is one of five Saints painted for a private commission.

This artwork depicts St Clare holding a monstrance with the Eucharist, which she bravely and faithfully brandished as a defense against invaders scaling the walls of Assisi in 1240, miraculously scaring the attackers into retreating.

A rainbow surrounds her halo because a rainbow aura shone around her when she was deep in prayer.
