The Sacred Heart of Jesus is taken from a larger mural commissioned by Fr. Paul Sullivan for Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Phoenix, Arizona. The original work, approximately 15 feet high by 30 feet wide, depicts Christ the King and True High Priest and features the Sacred Heart. Surrounded by Blessed Seraphim and flanked by the Archangels, Michael and Gabriel, the figure of Christ with outstretched arms evokes the gravity of Christ as King of the Universe, yet the tenderness of He who offered the sacrifice of his life on the cross as High Priest for the salvation of the world and each person, as He calls us unto Him.
